INGREDIENTS:
Mint leaves - 1 bunch
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Chana Dal - 1/2 tsp
Red chili - 1 long piece/As required
Salt - As Required
Tamarind - Small Peanut size
Oil - 1/2 tsp
For Tempering:
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1/2 tsp
PREPARATION:
Mint, a popular herb, has many medicinal values and adding mint in our food gives a lot of health benefits. It is a natural breath freshener. It helps in curing stomach upset and indigestion. More than its herbal values, it gives a nice taste and aroma when added in food. Mint chutney is commonly done as a side dish for idli/dosa and also used in many dishes like briyani, pulav, lemonades etc. Here we have the Mint chutney recipe which serves as a side dish for idli/dosas. Lets jump into the recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
Mint leaves - 1 bunch
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Chana Dal - 1/2 tsp
Red chili - 1 long piece/As required

Tamarind - Small Peanut size
Oil - 1/2 tsp
For Tempering:
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1/2 tsp
PREPARATION:
- Saute Urad dal and Chana dal in a wok with little oil. Saute till a mild color change.
- Add red chili and mint leaves. Saute such that the leaves shrink in its size.
- Now add the grated coconut and saute a few minutes. Do not saute till it sticks to the bottom.
- Add a peanut size tamarind and salt to the mix and then blend to a fine paste.
- Temper the chutney with sputtered mustard and urad dal.
Serve with hot dosa/idlies.
