Its always usual thing to have chutneys with onions, tomatoes, mint, coconut, coriander or the combo of any of these ingredients. Something interesting strikes on thinking of having all the ingredients as a combo. And we call it a Kadhambam when we have a variety of things all put together. Kadhambam can be made by mixing ingredients of our choice.
This choice of ingredients came out much tastier and I got good comments from my mom. Feeling bored of the regular chutneys, just have a try of making kadhamba chutney.
INGREDIENTS:
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Chana Dal - 1 tsp
Onion - 1 big, chopped
Tomato - 2 medium, chopped
Mint leaves - a few
Coriander leaves - a few
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Grated Coconut - 3 tsp
Green Chili - 1, small
Chili Powder - 2 tbsp. ( As req)
Salt - As required
Oil - 2 tsp

PREPARATION:
- Heat a wok and add oil followed by urad dal and chana dal. Saute till it becomes golden brown.
- Add onions till it becomes golden brown.
- Now add the curry leaves, mint leaves, coriander leaves and green chili and sauté well.
- Add tomatoes and sauté till tomatoes become mushy.
- Finally add grated coconut, chili powder and salt and give it a fry.
- Allow this to cool for a while and then grind it in blender to a fine paste. Season this with sputtered mustard and urad dal.
Kadhamba chutney ready :-)
