Neer Dosa

IMAGERY:

I was greatly delighted and impressed on watching Chef Venkatesh Bhat's Neer Dosa.. It was so tempting me to prepare and enjoy the dish. I gave it a try and to the success of this recipe, we made this dosa for three consecutive breakfasts. Its really a superb one for breakfast menu and easy to make.

One special thing for this dosa is that it doesn't need fermentation process. The moment you prepare the batter , you can start with the dosas. Little care needed in the quantity of rice and coconut and also the consistency of the batter. It is 1/2 a coconut for 1/2 kg rice and  the batter should easily flow like water (hence the name Neer Dosa).

The taste was awesome and my mom gave me a comment that 'If this is our breakfast menu then I could have four more extra'..... So we enjoyed the dish a lot and I wish every one to have a try of Neer Dosa.

INGREDIENTS:

Raw rice - 500 g
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Water

PREPARATION:
  • Soak the cleaned rice in water for 2 hours.

  • Add the grated coconut with this rice and grind it like a smooth paste with the required salt. It should be ground to a paint like texture.

  •  Add water to this batter so that it is easy to flow.

  • Heat the pan and sprinkle little oil. Then pour a laddle of batter and spread it by lifting the pan. I don't have a dosa pan. But somehow I managed to get the dosa perfect
As you pour the batter and spread it, you will get so many holes as you see in the pic. When you get this then your ratio is correct.

  • Pour little oil over the edges of the dosa and cover the pan with a lid. Once it gets cooked take it with the dosa laddle and serve it hot....

Neer dosas will taste good with Curry leaf chutney and Tomato Onion thokku...
